An amplified guitar ensemble experience for Brisbane Primary and High School students.
Meet your instructor!
Andrew Kennedy is a Brisbane musician, teacher and YouTuber.
Graduating from Griffith University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education. He worked as a classroom teacher for many years, before focusing on guitar instruction. Andrew has been a full time specialist guitar tutor at Cannon Hill Anglican College since 2013 where he teaches over 50 students and runs three guitar ensembles. He has released several albums of his of music, and performs regularly around Brisbane in various formats.
In an amplified guitar ensemble, guitarists can play fun songs together in a large group with drums and bass. While some schools do offer this, it tends to be rare. Most school guitar ensembles tend to be unplugged acoustic groups with a classical focus.
So if you're a guitar or bass student who's always wanted to try this format, or if you just want to keep playing music after school's finished, this is the program for you!

The Ensemble Rehearsals take place at Hamilton Town Hall, 36 Racecourse Road, Ascot.
January 8th, 15th, 22nd
Parents, feel free to grab a coffee or lunch after you drop off your young guitarist. Or, if you want to hang around and listen, the air conditioned venue has a seating and a kitchenette.
Check out the dedicated Youtube Channel 'High Road - Guitar Ensemble' where the arrangements are showcased for you to listen to.
Launched back in 2012, High Road is the name of Andrew's main YouTube Channel, 'High Road - Musician' devoted to all things music. You'll find videos on how to record with Pro Tools, how to Build a Recording Studio, How to Build a Guitar and even how to play drums with your feet.
To take the High Road as a Youtuber is to make content with substance, to avoid making click-bait. To take the high road as a musician is to play and create authentically, to avoid short-cuts and easy paths that lead nowhere. This approach is at the heart of Andrew's music and teaching.
