Valmiki Kothare
Valmiki is currently a junior in Electrical and Computer Engineering at CMU, additionally pursuing a minor in robotics. He has a background in systems engineering, artificial intelligence, and robotics. He is particularly experienced in path planning and robot kinematics and dynamics. On team Theseus, Valmiki's responsibilities include software development, particularly with regards to localization using the LIDAR and RGB camera, as well as image processing and device localization relative to the robot arm.
Dajun Tao
Dajun is pursuing a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at CMU with a focus in Robotics and Control. He also has experience in machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision. On team Thesus, Dajun's primary responsibility is to design, manufacture, and assembly the shipbot. Besides mechanical-related responsibility, he would also assist other team members in object recognition and control-related areas.
Sebastian Bernal
Sebastian is a senior in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has a background in digital and analog circuit design, as well as PCB design. He's particularly interested in the development of flight hardware, and has gained a lot of hand-on experience through his involvement in the MoonRanger program. On team Theseus, he's mostly in charge of the low-level software development, including the interfaces between the Arduino and Jetson Nano. He'll also be helping with hardware development, and is eager to learn more about design and manufacturing.
Ethan Rich
Ethan Rich is a Master's student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. On Theseus, Ethan is primarily responsible for hardware design, embedded software, and fabrication. Outside of Theseus, Ethan works on MoonRanger as an Avionics engineer where he designs, assembles and tests flight hardware for a mission on the Lunar surface in late 2023. Ethan also serves as the Head Teaching Assistant for 18-100: Intro to ECE where he works with other teaching assistants to develop curricula and manage course logistics. Outside of Electrical Engineering, Ethan enjoys playing guitar and watching bad sci-fi movies.
Sam Yin
Sam Yin is current pursing a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University with a focus in Robotics. He has background in Computer Aided Design and Engineering, Computer Vision and Autonomous System. His primary responsibility in this project is the CAD/CAE and fabrication of the robot's mechanical system. He'll also contribute to the control and computer vision tasks once the mechanical system is ready.
