Beyond GDP was founded in 2019 and is an undergraduate economics research team devoted to create and maintain an index of societal welfare that goes beyond what can be derived by GDP. The result is the CMU Tartan Index of Progress (CMU TIP). We work closely with professor Laurence Ales to understand the intricacy and complexity of measuring countries' economy and bring our understanding into the CMU Tartan Index of Progress.
