Hi! My name is Pushpika Basu, and I am a senior at Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy. Next year, I will be a Public Health Honors student at the University of Pittsburgh. I love reading, watching and playing soccer, knitting, and listening to music. The beach is one of my favorite places to relax with a good book or just enjoy nature.
I love science, especially all things biology. Human biology and it's intricacies are fascinating, and I love learning about the determinants of health that impact them. Every fundamental of the sciences is relevant to our daily lives in different ways. That's why I think it's so important to learn about them. Education is the most powerful tool at our disposal.
Sharing knowledge with others, especially those who will come after us, is incredibly important to maintain an intellectual society with strong, independent thinkers. That's why I wanted to be a STEM Ambassador. Teachers have an equally impactful role in cultivating a student's interest in a subject as natural aptitude. Having been on the receiving end of excellent and not-so-excellent teachers in subjects I deeply care about, I want to make sure that another student is able to explore STEM under the guidance of a passionate instructor. STEM Ambassadors is the perfect program to do that through.
