About Me
About Me
I'm a mechatronic and robotic engineer graduating with my MS in Robotic Systems Development from Carnegie Mellon University in May 2023.
In 2021 I graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a BS in Bioengineering. I originally wanted to begin my career in medical device design after graduation, but with the pandemic I had time to re-evaluate my interests. I realized that my true passion was in robotics, specifically in robotic systems that directly benefit humanity, such as medical and environmental robotics. I decided to attend Carnegie Mellon's Master's in Robotic Systems Development program to deepen my background in mechatronic design and robotics controls systems.
At this point in my career I consider myself a robotics engineer, as I have ample experience in all facets of robotics and find myself comfortable with mechanical, electrical, and software design.
I believe I am strongest with mechatronic design and robotics controls and planning given my most recent experiences at Intuitive and at Carnegie Mellon. Specifically, I have knowledge of Mechanism Design, Mechanical Testing, Circuit & PCB Design, CAD software (Solidworks and Fusion 360 most recently), and Prototyping. I am also familiar with controls and planning concepts such as PID and MPC controls, motion planning (A* and variants), localization and mapping techniques, and computer vision. Finally, I have lengthy experience working with Python, C++, MATLAB, and ROS for various projects, giving me a well-rounded understanding of software design for robotics.
Throughout my education and career I have proven myself to be able to work individually and as part of a larger team. I enjoy taking on work that challenges me and forces me to learn, and I pride myself on my ability to quickly learn and adapt. I specifically love working on projects that necessitate creative interdisciplinary problem solving and a systems engineering mindset, as that is where I truly shine as a robotics engineer. If given an opportunity, I believe I would be a great asset to any robotics team!
Outside of work I have several different interests. I'll jump at any opportunity to play volleyball and I'm currently training to take on a Toughest Mudder in Pittsburgh later in 2023. I'm also a big reader (Brandon Sanderson is my current favorite), and enjoy staying connected with my friends from high school and UCSD through gaming! In the future I hope to travel more and finding opportunities to give back to the robotics community by finding a volunteer position as a robotics mentor!
