We are a community of researchers interested in understanding how we can use data generated in and around games to advance scientific understanding of thinking, learning, and decision making. For the last few years, a group of us have been getting together regularly to talk over interesting game data related issues that come up in projects we are working on. From that meeting we’ve solved all kinds of funky data science problems, written papers and generally had a lot of fun growing together.
Since Fall 2023 we've been opening these meetings up to others who might be interested in order to grow our little posse of folks thinking about game data by hosting an hour long Zoom discussion every other week.
The format is simple: Someone comes with a project they are working on and gets us all up to speed with the context, goals, approaches tried and current issues. Then we talk about it! Feature engineering, data grooming, models, experimental design… whatever is needed.
We are an NSF funded Research Incubator bringing together a collective of researchers interested in the use of data generated in and around games to advance scientific understanding of thinking, learning, and decision making. Most Open Office Hours sessions are hosted by at least one member of our team.
