My name is Kyunghoo Mun (IPA: /' kjʌŋ. huː mun / ). I am a second-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University, advised by Professor Matthew Rosenzweig. Before I started my doctoral studies, I worked as a Deep Learning researcher at Krafton (a Korean game company, known for PUBG) under the supervision of Professor Kangwook Lee. I earned my B.S. in Mathematics from Seoul National University, where I was advised by Professor Insuk Seo. I graduated from Seoul Science High School.
I am interested in interacting particles systems analyzed through nonlinear partial differential equations (PDE) and probability theory. My goal is to deepen our understanding of the interplay between nonlinear interactions and stochastic noise. This interplay gives rise to rich mathematical phenomena such as, phase transitions, propagation of chaos, the log-Sobolev inequality, and the stability of stationary solutions. I also explore statistics, optimization, and deep learning, seeking analytical problems.
