The Problem

Many Carnegie Mellon University students face uncertainty about their academic and career paths. Whether it’s choosing courses, planning internships, or navigating job searches, students often lack access to personalized, experience-based guidance. Our startup, CMUniverse X AI, aims to solve this by offering a hybrid mentorship platform combining AI technology with alumni-driven insight, tailored specifically for the CMU community.

CMU students already have access to valuable resources like CMUniverse, Handshake, and LinkedIn for connecting with alumni, exploring jobs, and building professional networks. However, these platforms are often used separately and don’t always provide a clear, personalized path from coursework to career.

CMUniverse x AI is designed to enhance these tools by bridging them with tailored, AI-supported guidance—helping students reflect, plan, and connect more meaningfully. By layering AI insights on top of existing systems, we aim to make the mentorship and planning process smarter, more cohesive, and uniquely CMU.
