Kinematic/Kinesthetic Dance Robot
For this project, we will be working with our sponsor the AXIS Dance Company to create an assistive mobility device capable of transporting a wheelchair user without the use of wheels as the primary locomotor. This device will be used in a dance performance entitled Kinematic/Kinesthetic, which will feature dancers with and without disabilities. The goal of this project is not to “correct” the physical disabilities, as is typical of the medical model, but rather to explore the unique physical motions differently abled performers are capable of showcasing.
