Don’t:
Use the generic message without a personal option
Ask for a referral in your initial outreach
A strong LinkedIn Invitation should:
Avoid Sir and Madam, as they are not commonly used titles in the United States
Introduce yourself - such as your College affiliation, degree program, or other relevant information
State how you are connected OR if you have common connections
State the purpose of connecting and why you want to connect, such as to learn more about your contact’s professional experience. Avoid asking questions in your invitation request, such as what courses you should take or what jobs you should apply to. Focus on making a connection and then building a relationship.
