H1 - ADVISORY
Andover High School H Block was created to empower students to:
Increase a sense of belonging and promote community through meaningful connections with peers and teachers
Personalize their learning environment
Advisors help students personalize their learning environment by supporting their social emotional well-being and
promote reflection on academic goals.
Advisory Model
H1 is an advisory model whereby students meet with their advisor in small groups 1x per 8 day cycle.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
The five Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) competencies are infused into the immune system of H1 Advisory curriculum. Each lesson includes the core developmental competencies: self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, self-management.

In order to promote an environment that fully addresses and supports the overall well-being of the Andover High School community, H2-H5 Blocks provide a systematic opportunity for students to access interventions and supports such as:
Focused Extra Help/Skill Development
Social Emotional Support
Homework, Classwork and Make-up Work Completion
Group Projects
Peer Tutoring
Enrichment Opportunities
