The AP Physics 1 course is conducted using inquiry-based instructional strategies that focus on experimentation to develop the student’s conceptual understanding of physics principles. The AP Physics 1 algebra-based course is the equivalent to a first-semester college course in algebra-based physics. At least 25% of class time is spent collaborating as a member of an investigative team conducting hands-on, inquiry-based investigations that provide the opportunity to apply concepts learned in this course. Emphasis is placed on creatively applying fundamental physics concepts to solve problems and on deepening one’s understanding and appreciation for the universal laws and principles of physics that govern the physical world. This syllabus has been designed to follow the eight curricular requirements (CRs) set by College Board for the Physics 1 course.
