We are extremely proud at Wren to offer an art program that provides a variety of opportunities for students to expand their knowledge in all areas of visual art. Read below to learn just what makes Wren's art program so special!
Our art program goes far beyond crayons and color pencils. Students learn techniques in both 2D and 3D art. Students explore a variety of processes such as painting, oil pastels, collage, clay, paper sculpture, photography, and video art.
Most lessons have a strong background in art history. Students are taught in-depth the history behind art processes and styles as a way to expand knowledge and increase art appreciation.
We recognize students in a variety of ways. Each week, three students from each class are named "Artists in Training" as a way to recognize their hard work and good behavior. Also, student work is chosen from all grade levels to be displayed outside the art room for everyone to see. Once a year a few student pieces are selected to be shown at the district office. These students and their work are also recognized in front of their peers during their art class periods.
Art is extremely expansive in that it comes in many styles from numerous cultures across the world. Here at Wren we try and expose students to work from various cultures both within and outside of the U.S. Our goal is to build an appreciation and understanding of all forms of art.
