Thomas Bell is beginning his 23rd year in public education and his 2nd year at TL Hanna as Athletic Director. He is married to Amanda Bell and has three daughters in Anderson Five Schools: Anaston (17), Kaylin (14), and Hayden (12). Coach Bell earned a B.S. Degree in Secondary Education from The Citadel in 2000 after completing a four year career as a college wrestler. He began his coaching and teaching career for four years at Fort Mill High School, before returning home to his alma mater Hillcrest High School in 2004 to serve as teacher and head wrestling coach. During that time, his teams won multiple state championships and had numerous state champion and all state athletes. In 2009, Bell was named athletic director at Hillcrest, a role he held until joining TL Hanna H.S. At Hillcrest, he guided the Rams to Top 10 finishes as an athletic department, oversaw 13 state championship teams, and was named the 2019 State Athletic Director of the Year. Since joining TL Hanna, he has served as the 5A Classification Secretary, chaired the Handbook Review Committee for the High School League, and was named recipient of the 2022 Charles Arthur Stuart Athletic Administrator Award. “TL Hanna was a dream job for me, and I consider it a privilege to oversee an athletic department that uses sports to develop high character students who are ready to thrive in the world upon graduation. ”
