Walter Mayfield is beginning his 36th year as a public educator in Anderson School District Five. He is an Anderson native and a proud graduate of T. L. Hanna. He is married to Charlene Mayfield. Mr. Mayfield earned a B.S. Degree in Science Teaching Mathematics from Clemson University. He also earned a M.S.S. Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy. He added his certification in Educational Leadership from Clemson University. He began his teaching career at Lakeside Middle School as an 8th grade Math teacher. After eight years at Lakeside, he moved to T. L. Hanna to teach Math. Mr. Mayfield taught at T. L. Hanna for nine years before being named Assistant Principal at Southwood Middle School. During his seventeen years as a teacher he was also a coach at T. L. Hanna. Mr. Mayfield coached JV Boys’ Basketball, Varsity Girls’ Basketball, JV Boys’ Soccer, Varsity Girls’ Soccer, JV Football and was a Varsity Football Assistant. He served as Assistant Principal at Southwood Middle for seven years before being named Principal of Glenview Middle School. He served as Principal at Glenview Middle for eight years before being named Principal at T. L. Hanna in 2019. “I am very excited to be back at my alma mater to serve as Principal.
