Guitar 1: This is the beginner-level course for students who have a significant interest in guitar. These are not private lessons, but large group instruction. Open chords, barre chords, rhythmic skills, and basic theory are the focus areas. Students must maintain a B/80 average or higher to continue on to next level course.
Guitar 2 and above are the more advanced courses that focus on music performance and dedicated independent practice and study. Guitar 1 is the PREREQUISITE unless a student auditions into Guitar 2.
Music Production 1: This is the beginner level course for students who have significant interest in the production side of music. We use Garageband music software on desktop iMacs to create projects. Projects should demonstrate many of the basics of good music production including loops, music typing, effects, mixing, and simple arranging. Students must maintain an 80/B average to advance to the next level course.
Music Production 2 and above use more advanced skills and resources such as specialized effects, mixing multi-tracks and live recordings. There is more focus on the mixing and mastering side of production.
