Jake Miller
Introduction:
Jake Miller is the #EduGIF Guy, a keynote speaker, tech integration specialist, Google for Education Trainer, Nerd, 8th grade science teacher, and the #EduDuctTape Podcast Host.
The #EduDuctTape Podcast:
Educational technology works best when it's not the focus of the learning; it's a tool we're using. Think of it as duct tape; duct tape is the tool we use to make the thing we're using better or solve a problem. Educational technology is a tool we use to solve a problem, meet a goal, or address a standard. The focus is the content or learning goal. Podcasting became Jake's way of sharing more with educators when posting #EduGIFs/resources on Twitter wasn't enough. He wanted to go beyond how to use the tool and share the why and purpose of the tools.
Success Stories:
Listeners share how they put what they learned from the podcast into practice. It helps teachers frame the way they talk about using technology.
Growing as an Educator:
Guests on the #EduDuctTape Podcast share new tools and new perspectives about using tools.
Adjacent Possible:
What's possible for us is expanded by the ideas we expose ourselves to. When we think of the way we are integrating technology in the classroom, it is impacted by ways others have used it before us and the future uses of others after us. This is why it's important to share.

Begin your Adjacent Possible Journey
“. . . to truly empower people, there must be a shift from telling to listening. When you make that shift and focus on the learner (educator and student), rather than the administrator, you can create a shared vision for your community. When we tap into the power of we over me, we have the potential for what Steven Johnson refers to as the “adjacent possible,” creating new aspirations and a powerful vision of what school could and should be for our organization as learners. As Steven explains, the ‘adjacent possible’ is not the endpoint, but the beginning:
The strange and beautiful truth about the adjacent possible is that its boundaries grow as you explore them. Each new combination opens up the possibility of other new combinations. Think of it as a house that magically expands. . .
