Robert B. Turner Elementary Circulation Policy

1. Purpose:

Robert B. Turner Elementary Library has developed circulation guidelines and procedures in order to ensure fair access to information for all patrons.

1. Loan Period:

The loan period for all materials is two weeks.

1. Check Out Eligibility

∙ Students in Kindergarten will learn proper book care and begin checking out books mid-September. Kindergarteners will only be allowed to check out one book at a time.

∙ 1st grade students will be allowed to have one book checked out at any given time. After Christmas break, 1st graders with no overdue books will be allowed to check out two books.

∙ Grades 2-5 will be allowed to have 2 books checked out.

∙ Teachers will be allowed an unlimited number of checked out materials.

1. Overdue Materials

∙ Students in Kindergarten or 1st grade will not be allowed to check out materials if they have overdue materials.

∙ Students in Grades 2-5 will not be allowed to check out books if 2 books are overdue. They will be allowed to check out one book if only one book is overdue, unless the previously checked out book is a month or more overdue. In that case, the student will not be allowed to check out any materials until the overdue material is returned or paid for. The only exception to this policy will be if the student needs materials for a school assignment and the student does not have access to materials other than those of the library.
