Everything you need to know about the 2020 South Salem trip to France!

Put your French skills to the test and join South teacher, Robert Zenk, on an immersion adventure to experience life in France from a local, French perspective!

Trip Details

Dates: July 6th-28th

Program Fee: $4,200*

*Based on a group of 10 students and 1 chaperone. Program fee may vary depending on actual group size, exchange rate, and changes in airfare.

Includes:

Airfare from PDX
Comprehensive medical and accident insurance
Chaperone support
Ground transportation
2.5 week immersion experience with host family
3-day tour of Paris
Overnight and hot springs tour in Iceland

Program Timeline

Reserve your spot! Submit your initial application along with $500 program deposit by October 3rd. **
Tell us more about you! Complete your detailed application and upload your materials by November 3rd.
Acceptances will be sent by January 7th.
Get ready to go! Attend a program orientation in the spring.
Expect host family information 1 to 2 weeks prior to departure.

**Late applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis and are subject to a $50 late fee.

PREREQUISITES

Have completed at least 2 years of high school French by the end of the 2019/20 school year.
Be curious about what daily life is like in another country, be ready to push yourself, and be motivated to put your French skills to the test!

Program Chaperone

Bonjour, My name is Robert Zenk, French teacher at South Salem High School for the past 6 years. My inspiration to study French came after hearing all of the wonderful stories and adventures of my Aunt’s time in Paris as an au pair. Since then I have had the fortune to live and study two years abroad in Besançon and Lyon, France and traveling as much of the continent as I can. I moved from Boise, ID to Oregon in 2005 where I received my Bachelor’s in French, Political Science, and Economics from the University of Oregon as well as my Masters of Education.

In my spare time I enjoy playing basketball, running, hiking, and staying active. I’ve become an UNO master over the past 2 ½ years and dabble in Paw Patrol emergencies and building wooden railroad tracks thanks to my kids! I love that every day I get to speak French with my students and my two children Jackson (4) & Remy (1 ½). It is amazing for me to see the doors that speaking another language can and has opened for me and my students and for many this trip has been a real launching point in that journey! This will be my 3^rd trip with ANDEO and I’m really excited to see this group come together!

Kaylin is fluent in French and has lived with host families in Senegal and La Réunion during her time as a Fulbright scholar and English teaching assistant. She is passionate about cultural exchange and can't wait to support South Salem students on their 2020 summer immersion adventure!
