Graphs help tell a story or emphasize facts.
Illustrations, images, charts, maps, drawings, videos, etc - are used extensively to tell a story, support statistical information, provide another way of looking at things and to help explain facts. In this module, you will be using information from the most significant data reported in your statistics essay you will create a graph that best represent the information.
Note: Video to right was created before Explore Tool was introduced but the idea is that we have students ANNOTATE to identify and articulate the meaning of the graph and data.
You will make 1- 2 graphs comparing statistical data of your country to the US. You can use data from your Statistics Essay or find new data to compare. You will write a summary paragraph to accompany your graph that explains what data is represented and what the statistics mean or imply. Cite your source with a simple URL below your such as Source: http://www.culturegrams.com rather than making a bibliography entry.
To complete this assignment, each graph should include:
*The summary paragraph explains what the graph represents. Include your thoughts on why those statistics are similar and/or different by considering other facts about each country. For example, if the literacy rate of your country is much lower than that of the United States, you might have also learned that your country has more poverty, less healthcare and those things contribute to the lower literacy rate? As you can see there is a strong Christian influence in both countries between the Catholic and Protestant faith. However, what is starkly different is the fact that there are so few Muslims in the US and a considerable portion of Muslims in Zambrinek. This could be contributed to the region of the world that Zamribnek is located. There is also a significant "native tribal" presence in Zambrinek and none at all in the US!
