ASIM Biology
11/1/22 at AMSTI-UM from 8:00 - 3:00
Registration: PowerSchool Link
Overview: Molecular and Mendelian Genetics: This session will focus on ASIM labs available to teach molecular genetics (protein synthesis) and Mendelian Genetics. We will also touch on non-Mendelian inheritance patterns.
Bio standard 11: Analyze and interpret data collected from probability calculations to explain the variation of expressed traits within a population.
Bio standard 12: Develop and use a model to analyze the structure of chromosomes and how new genetic combinations occur through the process of meiosis.
ASIM - Physical Science/Physics
October 21
8:30am - 3:30pm
Shelby County Instructional Service Center, Room 107
This course is being offered to cover physics topics in physical science. It is a joint offering between UM and UAB. It will be held in Room 107 of the Shelby County Instructional Services Center (SCISC).
Physics portion ACOS 7, 9, and 11
PS.MS7 Analyze and interpret data for one- and two-dimensional motion applying basic concepts of distance, displacement, speed, velocity, and acceleration (e.g., velocity versus time graphs, displacement versus time graphs, acceleration versus time graphs).
PS.MS9 Use mathematical equations (e.g., (m1v1 + m2v2) before = (m1v1 + m2v2) after) and diagrams to explain that the total momentum of a system of objects is conserved when there is no net external force on the system.
PS.E11 Design and conduct investigations to verify the law of conservation of energy, including transformations of potential energy, kinetic energy, thermal energy, and the effect of any work performed on or by the system.
