My name is Janine Holbert. This is my 12th year teaching!
Throughout my 12 years teaching, I have always emphasized the importance of social and emotional learning. Over the years, I have attended additional trainings for Restorative Practice/Restorative Justice, Teaching Emotional Regulation to students (DBT skills), Yoga4Classrooms, and coached Girls on the Run (which includes lessons for girls in grade 3-5 to build confidence and learn teamwork/relationship skills.)
I enjoy going to sporting events (Go Browns!), relaxing, and traveling. I also love spending time with my husband, daughter, and two Siberian Huskies named Howie and Scout!
I am so excited to work with your child in Wellness each week!
After COVID19, the need for lessons on social and emotional skills has increased. Our lessons are aligned with the Ohio Department of Education's SEL standards and include topics like conflict resolution, positive self-talk, organization, time management, and internet safety- just to name a few!
Education: I've been teaching for 12 years. It is my ninth year teaching in Amherst. Prior to Amherst I taught three years in Cleveland. I graduated from the University of Akron with an Early Childhood Education Degree. I also added a Generalist Endorsement to teach 4th and 5th grade and a Reading Endorsement to teach reading K-12th grade. In May 2016, I earned my Master's Degree in Literacy.
