8th Grade U.S. History
In 8th grade, students will study the history of America. This class will begin with the study of Native American cultures. Next, we will move on to learning about European exploration, colonization, and the early years of the United States. Students will examine how historic events are shaped by geographic, social, cultural, economic, and political factors. Students will also learn how America's history has led to current events and the nation that we live in today.
7th Grade World History
In 7th grade World History, students will study the geography, religion, politics, economies, and social structures of Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. This class will cover world history from about 300 BCE up until about CE 1500. Units of instruction will include: the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, the spread of Islam in the Middle East, the kingdoms of West Africa, the later Chinese dynasties, the power of Feudal Japan, the Middle Ages of Europe, and the Renaissance and Reformation in Europe. This course seeks to enhance the understanding of the interconnection of past events, people, and ideas to important issues in the world today.
