Lunch Book Clubs

Need support connecting with peers? Or just love books?

Join a book club facilitated by ELP staff!

Various themes and topics will be offered throughout the year, so make sure to check back here often!

Ms. Schares will be hosting a weekly lunch book club centered on YA lit with queer protagonists and themes.

The club will meet for 6 weeks, every Thursday, starting Thursday, September 23 and running through Thursday, October 28.

6th grade book club

6th grade book club will be reading the following titles:

Stonewall Book Award Winner and Excellence in Young Adult Nonfiction Finalist, The 57 Bus by Dashka Slater is available at the AMS and Ames Public libraries. I also have copies to loan in my room.

Susan Kukiln's Beyond Magenta: Transgender Teens Speak Out is a Stonewall Honor Book, and is available for check out at APL. I also have copies to loan in my room.

7th grade book club

7th grade book club will be reading the following titles.

Sara Farizan's Tell Me Again How a Crush Should Feel is available for checkout at APL.

A Queer History of the United States for Young People, by Michael Bronski and adapted by Richie Chevat, is available at APL and I have many copies to loan in my room.

Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas is available at APL and I have copies to loan in my room.

8th grade book club

8th grade book club will be reading the following titles.

The Walter Dean Myers Honor Award for Outstanding Children's Literature, and Stonewall Book Award winning novel by Meredith Russo, If I Was Your Girl, is available at APL and I have copies to loan in my room.

I Wish You All the Best, by Mason Deaver, is available for checkout at APL and I have copies to loan in my room.

Queer, There, and Everywhere: 23 People Who Changed the World by Sarah Prager is available at APL and to loan from my room.
