Annie is a musical with music by Charlie strouse , lyrics by Martin Charnin , and a book by Thomas Meehan. It is based on the 1924 come strip, little orphant annie. By Harold grey (which in turn was inspired from the poem  little orphant annie by James Whitcomb Riley ). The original broadway production opened in 1977 and ran for nearly six years, setting a record for the Alvin Theatre. 

Troubled by her performance in the past an unsettled judge attempts to "help" a school put on their on a act play. With unhelpful tactics, a vengeful vendetta, and hopes to crush dreams, she attempts to sabotage an opponent from the past. Will she get her way or will the school overcome time issues, a wannabe cast, and an unhelpful crew?
