Attendance Policy and Grading

A group performs at optimum with all members present, therefore, students are required to participate in all performances unless excused by the director before the event. Each student is responsible for planning ahead and organizing their schedule so that all commitments are fulfilled.

The following circumstances will be recognized as excused absences from a performance:

· Personal illness. Student and parent(s)/guardian(s) are to notify the director before the performance.

· Family Emergency. (e.g. funeral) Student and parent(s)/guardian(s) are to notify the director before the performance.

Directors can be notified of absences by calling 817-0600 (ext. 0649 - band, ext. 2275 - orchestra, ext. 2238 - choral ) 24 hours a day.

If school conflicts occur, guidelines are suggested to which activity will take precedence:

a) State, district or conference competitions over school performance

b) School performance over regular season contest

Student employment conflicts are not accepted.

Students earn one credit per semester. Grading is P/F but is not factored in the GPA.
