Ames High Esports

Ames High School first started competing in Esports during the Winter of 2022/2023 as part of the Iowa High School Esports Association (IAHSEA).  We have played 1-2 titles every Season since our initial seeason. 

During the 2022/2023 year, the Ames High Esports team made the playoffs for Overwatch 2 and barely missed making the playoffs for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe by 2 points. 

During the 2023/2024 year, the Ames High Esports team made the IAHSEA State Tournament for all 5 titles that they competed in (Smash Bros Ultimate, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, Valorant, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe). The Rocket League team earned 3rd place at their State Tournament, Valorant was top 6, and Mario Kart earned 7th place. 

To start the 2024/2025 year, the Ames High Esports team made the IAHSEA State Tournament for Smash Ultimate and finished in 4th place. This makes 6 straight teams to make the state tournament with 7 out of our 8 overall since the start of the Esports program.
