ACPS School Counseling Vision

Through the delivery of the comprehensive school counseling program, all students will be equipped with academic, career and personal/social skills that will empower them to become exemplary citizens, forward thinking, innovative and future ready.


ACPS School Counseling Mission

To collaborate with staff, parents, and community partners to provide all students access to equitable and culturally responsive services that remove academic, career and social emotional barriers inspiring life-long learners to achieve their greatest potential.


ACHS School Counseling services

Students may request to meet with a counselor regarding academic, peer, or other concerns. Counselors can provide individual and group counseling services as time allows. Group topics may include divorce, grief, social skills, anger management, and personal success. groups offered are dependant on the needs of our students as well as time constraints. Parents are welcome to meet with counselors and are encouraged to call the Counseling Office to schedule appointment.


Counseling department services

the school counseling department at achs coordinates the following servies within our school: registration, orientation, scheduling, peer mediation, career day and sol testing. we are also responsible for powerschool registration for students and parents as well as interims and report cards.

Notification to Parents: Counseling Services

Parents must be notified annually regarding the academic and career guidance and personal/social counseling programs which are available to their children. The notification must include the purpose and general description of the programs, information regarding ways parents may review materials to be used in guidance and counseling programs at their child's school and information about the procedures by which parents may limit their child's participation in such programs. 8 VAC 20-620-10.
