What do our students communicate before they ever speak? In this interactive session, we’ll explore the powerful role of impression management and ethos in shaping credibility, confidence, and connection inside and outside the classroom. From first impressions to long-term reputation, participants will learn how to help students harness both verbal and nonverbal communication strategies to establish trust, build networks, and stand out professionally.
This session will highlight practical, discipline-neutral techniques that instructors can integrate into any course to strengthen students’ communication skills, public presence, and sense of personal brand. Whether students are preparing for job interviews, internships, leadership roles, or community involvement, this program equips faculty with tools to support their journey toward meaningful, real-world impact.

My journey with Amarillo College began many moons ago acquiring my Bachelors at Texas Tech and taking summer courses here. Then I returned a few years ago to pursue a different career in Medicine via the EMSP program. Having gone through the entire Paramedic coursework from the beginning, also utilizing the skills acquired with my Masters Degree in Education and Clinical Counseling. I was brought on as a Supplemental Instructor to assist in the direct education of students and meeting them where their needs may be.
