The language list is what you will see when you need to select language(s) in Amara, either for your profile, or to specify the language of your video or subtitles.
The list is ordered alphabetically by the language codes in accordance with ISO 639.
This order does not match sorting alphabetically by language name in English, so you will find Spanish ('es') and its local dialects between Esperanto and Estonian, while Chinese Simplified ('zh-cn'), Chinese Traditional ('zh-tw'), and their variations are near the end of the list.
If you need a language that is not available in this list, please send your request to add the language to support request form, indicating the exact name of the language and its ISO 639 code.
The language codes below can be used in API requests, but do not appear in language selectors on the Amara site.
Please note that any other language code can also be used in API requests.
If you use a language code not listed in this article, the language code you choose will also be displayed as the language name.
Amara provides a REST API to interact with the site. Please contact us at enterprise@amara.org if you'd like to use the Amara API for commercial purposes.
You can find more details on our API documentation.
