(strong, tough, hardy)

It is up to YOU to decide if you are going to be resilient and pick yourself up and move forward with what you need to do to graduate. Don't let current circumstances or past decisions derail your future goals!

About Me:

Welcome to Social Studies!

My name is Kari Blanford. This is my 9th year teaching at Alvord High School and I would not want to be teaching anywhere else!  I have taught 7th - 12th grades, most of that time in Alvord USD.

I grew up in Riverside and went to Alvord schools, K-12.  I attended Orrenmaa Elementary, Arizona Middle School, and am a graduate of La Sierra High School. I worked at La Granada Elementary while going to college, then completed my student teaching at La Sierra and Loma Vista before being hired for my first teaching position at Loma Vista.  I am truly a product of Alvord USD!

I graduated from California State University, San Bernardino with a Bachelor's degree in History.  I earned my teaching credential from Chapman University, and completed my Master's degree in Education with an emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University.

My high school sweetheart and I have been married 24 years and we have 3 wonderful boys.  Our oldest is in his last year at Cal Poly Pomona, my middle son is in the workforce and my youngest is beginning his 1st year at Cal Poly Pomona. One of my sisters is a teacher at Wells Middle School (Ms. Cochrun) and my dad was a high school teacher/football coach.  So education is in my blood!

I am excited to get to know you and help you reach your educational goals.  Let's work together to gain knowledge, improve skills and help you be ready for college and your career!
