I have been working for Alvin ISD for 24 years, starting out as a substitute teacher when my own children were young. I have served in various roles and schools in the district over the years but have been teaching Spanish at RISE Academy (formerly ASSETS Academy) since the Fall semester of 2008. I love the students and staff that I have always been blessed to work with over the years and have especially grown close to the students and staff at RISE Academy, considering them an extended part of my own family.
I was born and raised in Galveston and graduated from Ball High School in 1979. Following my high school graduation, I went to Sam Houston State University where I earned my bachelor's degree in Spanish and continued master's work under a teaching fellowship at the University of Kentucky.
I have three children; all who graduated from Alvin High School, and are now grown with families and careers of their own. In my free time, I love to travel and have spent time in some of the countries we study about in Spanish class. I also enjoy creating scrapbooks for my grandchildren, participating in community and church events, and hanging out with my family and friends.
