About Me

Hello! My name is Alonzo Silavong and I am excited for the upcoming school year! I was born and raised in San Diego, California and have also lived in the Nashville, Tennessee area. I am a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University where I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, minoring in French and Psychology and graduating with cum laude honors. I also completed my Master of Arts in Teaching specializing in Spanish at MTSU. This is my second year at Manvel High School and it is my 10th year total teaching. I have done graduate level research and writing in the fields of Hispanic studies, Chicanx studies and the Spanish Caribbean! I have travelled extensively and am knowledgeable about the cultures of Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba and the American Southwest. I hope to share my love for the Spanish language and the diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world in order to facilitate not only fluency in the language but a general love for learning! I will be teaching Spanish 1 this year. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I am available by email. Thank you!
