Animals For Education

I use "Animals for Education" (a.k.a.- Our Class Pets) to teach children about diversity, acceptance, and digging deeper into their learning. At present, I have 3 kinds of tarantulas ("Rojo"- A Mexican Fireleg, "Zeeby"- A Costa Rican Zebra Stripe, & "Frizzly"- A Curly Hair), betta fish, & possibly my Gecko lizard "Buzz" who will be joining us. These animals NEVER come out in class. They are locked in their cages. My Tarantulas are not poisonous- their bite would be like a bee sting- I could not & would not bring harmful animals into the classroom. The Depth & complexity icons listed are a generic application of teaching that engages children in learning and allows them to examine the world around us.
