Shell Stutes

Shell Stutes, coloratura soprano, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from Louisiana State University (2022). While a student at LSU, Shell was in the voice studio of soprano Sandra Moon. During their studies, Shell sang in a variety of choirs at LSU, including A Cappella Choir, Chamber Singers and Chorale. After graduation, Shell worked as a professional chorister in Opus Vocal Ensemble, BRACE New Music Choir, St. Paul Lutheran Choir, and St. Joseph Cathedral Choir.

Shell has performed as a soloist in choral works: Grand Pianola Music (Adams), "Kyrie" from Missa in Angustiis (Haydn), "Die düst'ren Wolken trennen sich" from Die Jahreszeiten (Haydn) and opera roles: Ariadne auf Naxos (Naiad), The Cunning Little Vixen (Young Vixen), and ensemble for The Marriage of Figaro, Falstaff, and Eugene Onegin.

Throughout their career as a voice and piano teacher, Shell has had students make Louisiana ACDA and LMEA choirs, receive superior ratings in solo and ensemble competitions, and pursue music at the collegiate level. As a teacher, Shell aims to continue to foster a love of music by helping students reach their individual goals, and further their music education by improving technique as well as literacy, repertoire, and history. Shell Stutes is excited to be starting a music career in Texas, and to be working with you.
