James Silva just graduated Sam Houston State University with his Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance. At his time at Sam Houston, James has won the solo competition at TEXOMA NATS multiple years in a row, has been a finalist and winner of Sam Houston's yearly Art Song Festival competition, and has been asked to sing at the National Opera Association multiple times representing Sam Houston. He's starred in Opera's such as 24 (A Cure for Love) as Silvio and Une ruse de Pierrette as Pierrot. In addition, James has sung overseas in Italy for the Accademia Vocale Lorenzo Malfatti summer program in Italy. This past summer, he was invited by Contempo to play a lead role, the Old Man, in La Carretera, a pastiche piece combining opera, circus, and dancing at the Opera Theater In The Heights.
James has been student-teaching voice in his last year at Sam and is excited to start voice teaching at Iowa Colony High School and Glenda Dawson High School.
