Hello, I'm Mr. Park!

Welcome to the Nolan Ryan JH Longhorn Choir! I am James Park, and I am the choir director at Nolan Ryan Junior High. I graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor or Music in Music Theory and a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting and then completed post-bac studies at University of Houston where I completed my permanent teaching certification in Music Education. This is my 25th year of teaching, having taught at both the middle and high school levels in Humble ISD and Clear Creek ISD before coming to Alvin ISD a few years ago. 

In my spare time, I am also the Music Director and Conductor of the Pasadena Philharmonic Orchestra, a community orchestra in Pasadena, and I enjoy spending time with my spouse, two kids, dog, and two cats. (We also have a bird, but the bird and I do not get along, and we are both satisfied with the arrangement since my kids love the bird). I am also a huge sci-fi nerd, love spy thrillers, and enjoy super hero movies and shows.

While I taught high school for 18 years, I was thrilled to return to my roots by teaching at the junior high level again in 2022. The wonderful students of Nolan Ryan Junior High Choir have a long history of choral excellence, and I am so excited to build on the strong foundation that has been created here as we strive to build and grow to new heights together.
