Hoka Hey!!

I am excited about my upcoming year as a Manvel Maverick! I will be teaching Anatomy/Physiology. Being a teacher allows me to directly impact student’s achievement, personal growth and success by connecting the classroom to real world hands on career experiences. I am a teacher with high expectations for myself and my students. I have developed a class routine for just about everything in my room. I have found this to be beneficial for both my students and myself.  I support our local HOSA-Future Health Professionals Organization members as a Sponsor.

About me:

I am Mrs Positive Pauly, I strive to be as positive as possible. I communicate with encouraging quotes and use affirmations often. I focus on how I make my students feel. I am also aware of how important  mental health is to our daily life. I empower students to build resilience by recognizing their strengths and areas of growth.

I was born in West Texas, a cowgirl at heart. I am a huge fan of Dolly Parton, Tanya Tucker & Loretta Lynn. I live for any chance to dress up in a costume and make memories. Mary Poppins is my favorite character. I am always the one who has a giant tote or a drawer full of useful nonsense. Often I have something you didn't know you were going to need. I collect vintage suitcases to store my thrift store finds and priceless treasures.

My husband is the BBQ Pitmaster for Buc-ee's.  We have two children Finley and Cooper. Our daughter loves music, dance, theater, animals and all things girly. She wants to be a Veterinarian.  Our son is currently mastering the guitar and Lego sets. He wants to be an Engineer. We have 3 dogs all doodles, Raven, Josie and Truffles.

In my spare time I enjoy any and all types of crafting. Painting furniture or re-purposing an item is always on my to do list. I love the beach, sunsets and sunrises. Being with my family is my favorite thing to do. We make memories often with charades, board games, bike rides, backyard cookouts and movie nights at home.

Education & Experience:

I have an Associates Degree in Zoology from Northern Oklahoma College. I became a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant in 2000 and joined a private Ophthalmic practice in Oklahoma. During these early years in my career I had amazing mentors who encouraged me to succeed.

I moved back to Texas after a few years as a Research Technician for the Baylor College of Medicine-Ophthalmic Department. I also decided to return to school in order to continue my education. I graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown in 2010 with a Bachelors of Science in Biological & Physical Sciences and a minor in Psychology.

Upon graduation I became the Clinical Research Director for a Houston based Ophthalmic practice. I was able to grow and achieve many awards for Excellence in Clinical Research

My 20 years of medical experience and patient care will allow me to positively impact my students' learning and encourage them to set goals.

Community Support:

I have been a volunteer member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for 18 years. I participate annually in Rodeo events that benefit our youth with education scholarships. As the Captain of the International Committee I have the pleasure of welcoming guests from all over the world to the Houston Rodeo. I am also a proud member of the HLSR Junior Rodeo Committee and serve as a mentor to student volunteers.

I am the Communications Captain for Holy Cow Cookers BBQ Team. I have served on this team for 18 years alongside of the Director my husband Randy. We participate annually in events that are both competitive but also support our community. We partner often with local events to provide additional assistance.

I am a proud advisor the MHS HOSA-Future Health Care Professionals Organization. We support students who have an interest in joining the healthcare industry. We organize charity events, activities and opportunities to learn about the healthcare fields they are intrested in.
