The Middle School Cadet Color Guard Program is the official beginner experience for students at Caffey Junior High and Iowa Colony Junior High who are interested in learning the fundamentals of color guard. This club serves as the first step into the world of performance, teamwork, and creative expression.

Open to all middle school students, the Cadet program focuses on building core skills in dance, flag technique, and performance confidence in a fun, supportive environment. As an introduction to the high school program, it gives students a head start in preparing for future opportunities in JV and Varsity Color Guard.

The Cadet team meets every Wednesday at 5:30 PM-7:30 PM in the Iowa Colony High School band hall, providing a consistent and welcoming space to learn, grow, and connect with fellow young performers.

Through engaging practices and the chance to be part of a spirited team, the Cadet program inspires students to begin their color guard journey with pride and excitement.

When do we meet?

We meet every Wednesday from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the ICHS Band Hall!

The Color Guard is an exciting performance ensemble that adds visual artistry and dramatic flair to the school band and music program! We combine dance, flag spinning, athleticism, and performance to tell a story and pump up the crowd!

The JV Color Guard team is open to all middle school and high school students to audition for and is not required to have any previous experience. Fill out the Interest Form for the 2026 Season.

🗓️ Our Season & Schedule

Winter Guard is a spring-semester competitive activity that begins in November and continues through April:

❄️ Winter/Spring Season: Indoor Guard (TCGC)

What we do: This is our competitive season! We move indoors (usually the gymnasium) and create an exciting, theatrical show just for the Color Guard. We perform at local and regional competitions.
Rehearsals: We rehearse 2 afternoons per week after school, plus some Saturday practices in preparation for the competitions.
Performances: Weekend competitions within the Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) and District Showcases.

‼️ What Are The Fees?

All members are required to cover the ensuing expenses in the winter season depending on placements. Payments for Costumes: ($150) must be no later than November 13th, 2025. In the event of financial hardship, individuals are encouraged to contact the color guard director as soon as possible. ALL DUES MUST BE PAID BY JANUARY 6TH, 2026. ALL DUES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

Costume Fee: $150

Uniform Fee: $70

ICGuard Jersey: $50
ICGuard JV Show Shirt: $20
