About Me

Hola, my name is Helen Alvarado. This is my 27th year in education. I am married (42 years) and have 3 children. They are grown and have their own careers. All 3 children entered the military out of high school. The boys into the Marine Corps (the youngest via the Naval Academy) and my daughter into the Air Force. I have 2 dogs and lots of plants. Teaching allows me to show my passion for the Spanish language. It is enjoyable when students also develop a passion for a foreign language.

I was a paraprofessional for 10 years. While I was working, I took courses to become a teacher. I graduated from Western Governors University. Taught in an elementary for 7 years, in a junior high for 10 years and am excited to be a high school teacher.
