Brandi Kiekel

Welcome to my class where all are welcome. My Name is Brandi Kiekel and I can't wait to get these kids on stage. This is my second year in Alvin ISD. I moved here from Galveston ISD where I taught theatre for 6 years. I have a BA in Theatre from Kansas State University (Go Cats!) in Manhattan KS (the "Little Apple")

My hobbies include Hanging out with my kids, crafting, cooking, coloring, and kickboxing. I'm almost always involved in some sort of and love when I can get my students out to see live shows. I have two boy that are 9 and 11 and a wonderful fiance that support my love of the stage. I have a boxer named Dory and an all black cat named Pluto.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe in creativity and the simple concept that everyone can learn. Studies show that humans are MOST creative when they reach the age of 10 years old. Humans began to lose that ability quickly if they don't use those skills. The arts help nurture those skills and I enjoy seeing what kids can come up with. Teaching and learning through creative play and fun allows for a safe and enjoyable environment. When kids feel safe, they can learn ANYTHING!
