This is my first year teaching art at Don Jeter Elementary, and I am so excited to work with your child. Fresh in my career as an art teacher, I bring high enthusiasm, passion, and optimism for my students. I have been a member of the Alvin ISD community since I was a student at E.C. Mason Elementary. I hold a BFA in Communication Design from Texas State University, and I have been a professional graphic designer for five years, working in advertising and higher education. A fun fact about me is that I am also a small business owner of a design company called Ciara Designs!
While your child is with me in the Art Room, they will explore new skills, express themselves, seek to understand others and experience creative problem-solving. We will learn about artists and art history, as well as colors, shapes, and other art elements. Throughout the year, your child will choose art projects to keep, to share, and to show, however all artwork will go home with them at the end of the year. I look forward to sparking your child's imagination, growing their communication skills and sharing my love for art with them!
We have everything we need for an amazing year in art, but if you would like to donate materials to our classroom, here is a list of consumable supplies we'd appreciate! Art room donations can be dropped off at the front desk at any time throughout the school year. Thank you!

I know we will have a great year in art class! In the event that I do need to share any updates with parents about behavior issues, I will rely on ClassDojo to communicate. Specials teachers have been added to all homeroom teachers' ClassDojo accounts.
We will try to keep your child’s clothes clean. However, accidents do happen. If your child comes home with “ART” on their clothes try the following.
1) Scrape residue from garment.
2) Pre-treat area with a little soap/detergent and water.
3) Wash as directed on garment (it may take a few washes).
You and your student can use our Art Bitmoji Classroom as an amazing resource for:
Visiting our art class website
Exploring art history and famous artists
Playing art games
Learning and writing our alphabet
Reading books related to our art lessons
