No. You will not be dressing out for PE in 6th grade.
We know we are moving, so do we have to fill it the course card?

It depends on if they have completed the dyslexia program in elementary. The junior high counselors will receive that information from the elementary that your child attends.
My child and I want to change a course selection, but it is the summer and the counselor is not on campus.
Students will have an opportunity to review and adjust courses between March 31st and April 15th. All change requests for the upcoming school year are due April 15th.
Student course requests determine how the school master schedule is built, how faculty are hired, and how room assignments are made. Student course requests are their commitment to the courses for the school year. After the start of school, schedule changes will only be considered based on the following circumstances:
The student is not scheduled into an academic core class.
The student is enrolled in the wrong level of an academic course.
The student does not meet the entry/approval requirements for the course.
The student was not enrolled in their approved specialty program (e.g. Band, Athletics, Orchestra).
MAP/APA/STEM Information
Do I still have to fill out the course card if my child qualifies for MAP or other programs?
Yes. The appropriate programs will be scheduled for your child if the child has met the criteria for MAP or the STEM Academy.
If my child is not successful in APA, will my child have the opportunity to switch to regular?
Students who enroll in APA, MAP, and STEM Academy courses commit to completing the Alvin ISD Advanced Academics course. Students requesting a course change will have from the beginning of the 7th week until the end of the 9th week to complete the course change request process. This process entails multiple steps, including a form signed by the teacher, Advanced Academics Specialist, parent/guardian, and counselor. Proof of tutoring and/or other interventions or support measures are also required in order to request a course change.
Please see the Advanced Academics Agreement for more information (Course changes section).
