Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will there be a swim season?

A: Yes. We are still going to have a season.

Q: What are the requirements for the swim team?

A: Travel Team--> one must be able to swim 3 of the 4 competitive strokes legally. Males must be able to swim 1o x 5o on a :45 and ladies 1o x 5 on a :50.

Non Travel Team --> must be able to legally swim 2 of the competitive strokes legally. Males must be able to do 1o x 5o on a :60 and ladies 1o x 5o on :65

Developmental --> 3oo yards unassisted also could be at Coach's discretion.

Q: If I start the season as Non Travel Team can I move up to Travel before the end of the season?

A: Yes. Many swimmers begin as Non Travel and finish as Travel. The goal is to have swimmers improve and be better than when they started.

Q: What will practices look like?

A: Once we are Face to Face, wet practices for:

1st period will be from 7am to 745.

7th period will be from 3pm - 415 or 3 pm - 5 depending on the day

Dry or weight room will be from 615 am to 645 Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This will be for both Travel and Non-Travel

Q: How long is the swim season?

A: Swim season is from August to early February.

Q: What do I need to tryout?

A: You must have a current physical on file with the high school athletic trainer.

Q: Do I have to play water polo?

A: Water polo is strongly encouraged for those who do not swim year round club. Club swimmers do not have to play water polo.

Q: Can I do band and be on the team?

A: Yes, it isn't easy, but it is possible. There are students that have done it and continue to do it.

Q: Do you need previous experience in swimming or on a swim team?

A: No prior team experience is necessary. We have all ability levels.

Q: How often are swim meets?

A: Once swim season starts, meets are at least once a week and sometimes twice a week

Q: What equipment do you need?

A: Most of the equipment is provided, but you must bring your own practice suit (NO two pieces), and goggles. There is also team clothing that is needed to be purchased (team shirt, meet suit, etc.)

Q: Can I letter (get my Jacket) as a freshman?

A: Yes you can. (See the lettering policy tab above)

Q: As a coach, what are you looking for?

A: All I want are people willing to work hard.

Q: Is there a dive team?

A: Yes, anyone that is daring enough or has a gymnastics background should try it.

Q: Do I have to swim to play polo?

A: Yes!
