Calarreona beach and more

EsEnRed: On the beach of Calarreona we have been working on 4 beings or plants that are invasive. These are the cat's claw, the Kentish plover, the trumpeter bullfinch and the sea lily.

Uña de gato

One of the invasive plants on the beach in Calarreona is cat's claw. It may not appear when looking for cat's claw but if you add calarreona, you will see people tearing it off.

Why rip them off?

Since there is no animal that eats them, they are growing more than normal. For this reason, our duty was to uproot them to block their growth and prevent them from installing themselves in our ecosystem.

Camachuelo

The trumpeter bullfinch is a species of passerine bird in the Fringillidae family native to North Africa, the Middle East, and the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula.

The same thing happens to this animal. Since no one eats it, it grows non-stop and, as it eats the plants, it reduces the amount there is.

Azucena de mar

The sea lily is a bulbous plant that is found in the sandbanks and fixed dunes of the Atlantic coast, the Cantabrian Sea and the Mediterranean coast, in full sun and tolerates prolonged periods of drought well.

Chorlitejo patinegro

The Kentish Plover is a species of Charadriiform bird characteristic of beaches, coastal sandbanks, salt marshes and lagoons. It is very vulnerable, because it lays its eggs directly in the sand, so they are always on the ground until they learn to fly. Despite the fact that the areas where they are found are signposted, they are very difficult to see because of their colors. For this reason, they require special attention and are protected with closures to ensure that the nesting areas are not destroyed by human action.
