Currently, both our board of directors and officers are not being compensated with wages for their positions. We do have provisions in our by-laws and budget for compensating team members for services rendered, and we are happy to share that information with you upon request.
So nearly all of the charitable donation funds we receive go directly to resources for our various programs and to the individuals actively providing these critical services!
We are currently raising funds to renovate a community home we previously purchased in Zalyssa, Ukraine (near KP) and financial support for our team members serving there, as well as our Kharkiv team leaders who run a rehabilitation center in eastern Ukraine (a facility we also helped them purchase).
No. While our directors, officers and team members here and abroad have our personal belief and faith in Jesus Christ, ALTRUE is not legally registered as a religious organization, nor are we an arm of any larger denominational church organization. We are a small, independent international mission, and are highly committed to transparency and accountability at every level.
Our focus is very relational and educational in nature; helping people who are displaced or from broken families become thriving adults and avoid the trappings of survival related to crime and human trafficking; especially during this time of war. We also understand that war is not only physical but it also causes mental and spiritual impacts that must be addressed.
Faith and spiritual beliefs are engrained in Ukrainian history.
The nation has deep Judeo-Christian religious roots that include Orthodox, Catholic, Jewish, and Christian faiths. So while we have no organizational goals for religious evangelism or church planting, we are very comfortable engaging the Ukrainians we're assisting on spiritual matters and providing our own personal testimony of Christ's impact in our own lives.
We will utilize the Zalyssa site as an outreach ministry facility. Up until now we have been supporting geo-diverse teams with meeting immediate needs, but our vision has always been deeper than basic necessities.
This home will provide us with a place to better engage local youth who are participating in our mentorship program and help better equip them for adult life. It is in close proximity to Sasha's church where we've helped host youth activities and camps; making this a great place to house leaders during those events.
Being a neutral site (and not a church facility), it will also enable us to better serve and engage youth and young adults who are wary of religious obligations and affiliations yet still need the help and assistance our programs offer.
Two of our founders (Roman and Yanna) were born and raised in Kam'yanets-Podilskyi. Their family immigrated to the US in early 2000's as refugees, so they understand this situation better than most. As first generation immigrants, they still have many friends and family living all across western Ukraine.
Through the connections they've maintained overseas, we have developed and established our current teams. We personally trust and support them, as they are our hands and feet overseas and nothing we've accomplished so far would have been possible without their sacrifices and commitment to helping others. We are beyond grateful for their diligence, faithfulness, and transparency with the financial support we've provided thus far.
As a publicly-funded charitable organization, we do not have a political position in this war. Our resources and support do not go towards any military operations or supplying any weapons or military equipment to the Ukrainian armed forces.
With so many Ukrainian friends, family, and connections - we know who we are most equipped to help. Our mission is to reach, rescue, and rehabilitate the displaced and disadvantaged - who are victims of these dangerous times in Ukraine - regardless of their cultural or national origin, and also regardless of their religious background.
Our hopes and prayers are for this war to end quickly, as that will remove many additional obstacles impacting our plans and enable us to more efficiently carry out our mission.
