I have been teaching in the Alton School District since 2006. I have taught elementary general music and choir, K-12. I am currently teaching Choir and Music Tech at AMS.
I live in Alton with my husband, Jerry, my daughter, Emi and my son, Eric. We have a beautiful smart Blue Healer/Austrailian Shephard Mix named Bella.
Last year our music classes looked very different. We met on Zoom, learned some new music, reviewed some songs we already knew and we spent some spent some time on Solfege. Solfege is a building block to creating exceptional singers - that is who I work with!
This year, 21/22, we are not starting back like nothing happened but we are going to be closer to what happens in a "normal" choir class.
We will continue to work on our music reading and choral singing eventhough we will be wearing masks.
I used the device, pictured below, last year and it made a big difference for singing and talking.
I look forward to seeing and hearing from all of you as we begin another year of "not sure what is going to happen"!
The teachers were offered these last year but I am buying them from Amazon this year. The price is $7.64 for 5 masks. If you would like to send in $2 for an insert, I will gladly order more. You can just send your money with your student or you may send it directly to me via Venmo. @Lori-MeCaskey. My Venmo pic is of me with a hat on in front of a waterfall. Be sure you put in the word "Mask guard" for what you are sending money for.
Hello! I have been a music teacher in the Alton School District since 2008. I have taught both chorus and general music the last several years. This year I will be teaching general music at Gilson Brown Elementary, as well as chorus and 6th grade music tech at AMS.
I live in Alton with my husband, and my Yorkshire Terrier Suki.
I was not at AMS last year for the first time since I began teaching in Alton. I really missed being there and getting to be part of choir. I am really excited to be back and have the chance to help students make music. I will be the teacher in charge of 7th and 8th Honor Choir, 6th Lab Choir, and preparing students who are interested in auditioning for ILMEA. More information about these groups to come.
I am super excited to meet everyone and get to know their amazing voices.
