Description: Instruction includes units on disease, sexually transmitted diseases, first aid, mental health, nutrition, human growth and development, drugs, cardiovascular, respiratory, and skeletal systems. Health is a graduation requirement.

General Physical Development (PE) – 02780 – 02810

You must have 6 quarters of PE as a graduation requirement.

Description: Physical Development provides students with opportunities for physical development through selected activities in physical fitness, individual/dual activities, dance, and group/team activities. Physical Fitness Testing is administered once each quarter, including the summer term. Physical Education is coeducational, and is required of all students in the ninth, tenth, and eleventh grades unless otherwise excused. There is a dress code requirement for physical education. Students must have athletic shoes, no sandals, boots, crocs, or other slip-on shoes are allowed. Jewelry is not to be worn in PE class other than wedding bands or small post earrings. Students must wear clothes that are appropriate for athletic activities. Students who are not dressed appropriately will not be allowed to participate in the daily activities and will lose points accordingly. There will also be daily assignments and weekly quizzes over various activities. Both participation and assignments will make up a student’s grade. The grade received counts toward the student’s grade point average.

Athletic Physical Development – 02785 – 02815

Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12 Length: 1 quarter Credits: 1/4

This course will count towards the PE graduation requirement.


Description: An in-depth and advanced weight training program for athletes. The program will contain the standard three elements of power control and capacity while with a focus on strength and work capacity. Athletes will undergo cycles within the power of Olympic lifts. Breakdown of athletic PE: 60 workouts over a 12 week period. 4 weight training days per week and 1 guided active recovery session per week. Testing and Tracking: Strength training will have continual tracking of back squat and bench press. The new assessment will include hang clean, full clean, front squat, deadlift fitness, jump rope (mobility), and plank hold (stability), anaerobic conditioning, and squat therapy. Students are required to wear uniforms for Athletic PE. These uniforms are sold during the first week of school. Cost is $20.00 for one shirt and one pair of shorts. Fee waivers available based on need. Students who are not properly dressed for class will not be allowed to participate in the daily activity. No dress days are considered non-participation days and can cause a student to fail. Athletic shoes are also required for this class, no boots, slides, or slip-ons will be allowed.
