ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Troy Intermediate and Avon Lake City Schools are not responsible for the loss or theft of any such personal items. Personal devices are still subject to the same rules and expectations set forth in the board approved Acceptable Use Policy. For example, no unapproved photos, unapproved recordings, non-academic social networking, text messaging, searching for/looking at inappropriate material, etc. For any infraction, a student may lose the privilege to use their device in school. Troy staff may confiscate any device that has been used inappropriately. Repeated violations may result in parent notification and retrieval of the device from the principal’s office.

When abused, privileges will be taken away. Students will lose technology privileges for a specific amount of time. Work completion will be paper/pencil.
You and your parents will receive a USERNAME and PASSWORD. PowerSchool will provide:
Grades for complete, missing, or incomplete work
Comments/Feedback on your work
Access to Envisions Math and Social Studies textbook
All assignments must be completed with best effort (neat and legible).
Aside from short and long term projects, most homework is due the next day.
What is too much homework?
If you are spending more than an hour on work and feeling mentally exhausted, then stop at a good point and have your parent send an email to the teacher indicating how long you spent on your assignments. That’s all. The goal of homework is NOT to get you frustrated. It is for review, practice, or help retain information.
Missing or Incomplete Work
Missing or Incomplete homework may be required to be made up during recess, unless absence was the cause.
Need help with homework?
You or your parents should contact your teacher as soon as possible if help is needed. Email your teachers or call them.
You can also phone a friend or ask your parents for help.
What if a student is absent due to illness, leaves school early, or goes on vacation?
Classwork you miss can be found on our team website homepage at the "Homework Center" section.
Any homework assigned the day before an absence is due when you return to school.
Make up work should be turned in as soon as possible. If more time is needed to complete the work, please let your teacher know. Wellness is priority if you are sick.
If you are going on vacation, just let your teachers know when you’ll be missing school. Also, have your parents fill out a vacation form available in the school office.
While it is always in your best interest to learn the material before an assessment or complete assignments to the best of your ability, your teachers understand that some students take longer to learn the material than others or life situations come up that may cause undesirable grades. Therefore, retakes and redos will be offered on an individual basis, at INDIVIDUAL TEACHER DISCRETION. However, we may refuse a retake for various reasons. If, for example, we feel that you are not attending extra study sessions, not doing required work to achieve mastery, or showing no other effort to prepare, we will say no to the retake or redo opportunity.
School papers, flyers, forms, etc. are sent home in the Troy Folder. Graded work will also go home in the folder.
The Troy Folder will also serve as a daily HOMEWORK FOLDER. The folder will be divided into two sections. One side will be labeled as “Keep at Home” and the other side will be labeled as “Return to School”. The return to school side will hold any homework.
WE ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO USE A PLANNER. Although assignments will be posted on Google Classrooms or our Daily Work Log, there may be times your teacher will be unable to update the information. Therefore, planners will still be used to record homework, project due dates, upcoming events, reminders, notes, and much more. If details in the planner are not recorded or unclear, we do encourage both students and parents to look at Google Classrooms and the Daily Work Log together for DETAILS.
Every Troy student has a STUDENT GOOGLE FOR EDUCATION account which will give you access to:
Google Classrooms,
Google tools: Docs, Presentations, Mail (Gmail),
You will learn to collaborate with your classmates and teachers online and store or share instantly. Everything you do will be stored privately and safely. Cool, huh?
Due to food sensitivities/allergies, you are welcome to bring NON-EDIBLE items to share (e.g. pencils, stickers, or a big smile).
