In accordance with the ESSA, Title IV, Part B, 21st CCLC, the ALSDE is required to post a list of pre-screened external organizations in Alabama that have the knowledge and expertise necessary to assist 21st CCLC subgrantees in carrying out the activities outlined in their approved subgrants. The term "external organization" is defined as:
A nonprofit organization with a record of success in running or working with before and after school (or summer recess) programs and activities; or
In the case of a community where there is no such organization, a nonprofit organization in the community that enters into a written agreement or partnership with an organization described in subparagraph (A) to receive mentoring or work with before and after-school (or summer recess) programs and activities.
The external organization must meet the following minimum requirements:
Operate as a nonprofit in good standing in Alabama; and
Have a minimum of five years of experience operating or delivering services to out-of-school time programs in Alabama.
External organizations interested in being included on the list of pre-screened organizations must complete the ESSA External Organization Profile form.
Note: this form is not required to apply for a 21st CCLC grant or to enter into a contract with a vendor/external organization.
