OPTIONAL Device Insurance for Families

As outlined in the ConnectED Learning & Chromebook Handbook, families may be responsible for costs associated with repair or replacement for school-issued devices in cases of loss, theft, or damage.  Families may choose to purchase optional device insurance to help offset these costs.  This option will provide zero-deductible coverage at an affordable $20 premium.  Insurance with District #241 will protect the Chromebook against: Accidental damage (drops/spills), vandalism, fire, flood, natural disasters, and power surge due to lightning strikes.  The policy will provide replacement cost coverage and protect the Chromebook worldwide (on and off school grounds.) Insurance may be purchased through the online portal until October 1st or you may write a check made out to District #241 and turn it into your school when you get your Chromebook.  After the school year starts, you can still purchase insurance, but your device will need to be inspected for damage and any pre-existing damage will need to be paid for in addition to the insurance premium.
